A dining armchair made almost entirely of one material. The whole shell is one sheet of clear acrylic bent through two right angles, so a single piece of material forms the left arm, the back and the right arm without a joint anywhere in it. An arch is cut through the back panel at shoulder height, and the seat is a flat cream upholstered pad set into the shell.
Bending a sheet this wide without marking it is the whole job. The acrylic is brought up to temperature along a narrow line, folded, and held until it has cooled through; take it too fast and the outside of the curve goes cloudy, take it too slow and the sheet sags between the clamps. Each fold is therefore worked one at a time, and the second is set only after the first has stabilised. The arch in the back is cut before the folds go in, while the sheet is still flat and can be held properly, then its edges are flame-polished so the opening reads as clear as the faces. Small differences in the radius of the two folds are normal and are what tells one chair from another. The pad is built on a marine ply base and drops into the shell on its own.
A clear chair takes up almost no visual room, which is the reason to use these round a dining table in a small room - six of them read as a table with space around it rather than a table hemmed in. The arch gives the back a horizon so the chair does not disappear entirely. It tucks well under a table, though the wrapped arms mean it will not slide fully in, so allow for that when measuring a run along one side.
Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The seat pad is made up in the colour you specify, and can be supplied in a heavier weave if the chairs are for daily use. The arch can be cut deeper, narrower, or left out entirely for a plain back. Chairs are priced individually, so a set of six is six of these on the order. Each one travels in its own carton with the pad packed separately and dropped in on arrival, and a single carton is light enough for one person to carry upstairs. Clear acrylic scratches more readily than glass, so the protective film is left on the shell until the chairs are in place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A shell bent from arm to arm belongs with our art furniture; an arch cut through clear acrylic points to our acrylic sculptures, and a chair for a small dining room sits with our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
