A spiral rising in open turns on a dark stone block, the metal within it worked into flakes rather than dust. Colourless throughout with gold caught in flakes through the whole depth of the body. A black marble block is supplied under the spiral, and the lowest turn stands squarely on it.
A body with no pigment gives the eye nothing to settle on, so whatever is held inside it becomes the subject, and how deep each piece of it sits becomes the composition. The flakes are spaced rather than scattered, and the difference matters: a scatter reads as a finish applied to the material, while a spacing reads as something held inside it, and the second is far harder to achieve. Gold flakes held in a clear body catch light the material itself does not, so the piece has bright points at depths the surface cannot account for. Polished to a full gloss, since any dullness would compete with the flakes for attention.
It works against a dark wall on a console or a sideboard. A dark wall behind it. The flakes are points of light and they need a ground that is not. A single point source is best. Diffuse light lights every flake equally and the depth goes. The gold registers from across a room as a scatter; the spiral itself takes a few paces to resolve.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The flake density can change, the gold can be exchanged for silver, and other heights are made. Raise the density and the flakes stop being separate points, which is what currently gives the body its depth. Flake density is the variable here and it changes what the piece is: sparse reads as something caught and held, dense reads as a finish applied to the outside. Both are made, and they are not versions of one another. One crate, on its stone. One person at the block. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Clear spirals holding flakes of gold are found in our organic sculptures; the gold-flecked casting sits among our resin sculptures, and more for a dark-walled room is in our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
