Clear & Gold Fissured Mass Resin Sculpture - 159cm
Clear & Gold Fissured Mass Resin Sculpture - 159cm $5,06200
Description

A fissured mass held above a white marble plinth by a steel collar, with a gold band at the waist of the casting and a gold spray reaching out at the crown. Colourless through the mass with a gold band at its waist and a gold spray at the crown, standing on white marble. A white marble plinth is supplied under it, with a steel collar between the two.

When the Plinth Becomes Half the Work

A plinth that carries nearly half the height stops being a base and becomes half the composition, which is why the collar between the two is worked rather than hidden. Fissures cut into a colourless body are read from both sides at once, so the mass has twice the internal drawing of an opaque one the same size, and the gold at the waist is the single place where that reading stops. A clear mass on a white plinth means the stone is read straight up through the material, so the bottom third of the casting takes its tone from what it is standing on. The mass takes a full polish and the marble is honed, so the two never return the same highlight.

Floor work. Nearly half of what you are buying is plinth, and none of it is going onto furniture. A plain wall of any tone behind it. A white plinth needs the ground behind it to be quiet rather than dark. Light from above finds the gold band and the spray at once; light from the foot lights the marble and leaves the casting flat. The gold reads across a room and the fissures in the mass are the reason to come nearer.

Cutting the Plinth Differently, and Three Crates

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The gold band can be left off, the spray can be taken out, and other plinth heights are available. Specify another plinth height and the casting is reproportioned to it, because the gold band has to sit at about the height of a standing eye. Three crates, one for each part, and they stack in the order they come out. Three people for the plinth. The casting goes on after the collar is level. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Gold-toned steel set against a clear casting leads to our stainless steel sculptures; the fissured mass belongs with our organic sculptures, and it stands at an entrance among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
