Description

A pierced rock in clear resin with a gilt band round its waist and a gilt spray reaching out at the crown, on a round gilt disc. Colourless through the rock, with a gold band round the middle and a gold spray reaching out above it. The spray at the crown is drawn as a bare branch. A thin gilt disc comes with it.

Two Opaque Things and Nothing Else

Everything on this piece is read through except two things, and both of them were added. The band stops the eye at the waist and the spray gives it somewhere to go at the top, which is what a clear rock needs if it is not to be looked at once and left. A clear resin body banded in gold means the only opaque things on the piece are the two that were added, and everything else is read through rather than off a surface. Polished over the rock, through every piercing, with the band and the spray finished to a gilt.

A desk, a cabinet top or a study shelf, at the distance from which the piercings can be seen through. A pale ground behind it, so the piercings read as openings and the gold reads as gold. Light from behind opens every piercing at once; light from in front closes them and leaves only the band. The gold is what carries; the rock resolves at arm's length.

Leaving the Band Off, and One Crate

Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. Ask us to leave the band off, to take the spray out, or to finish both in another metal. Take the spray out and the crown is redrawn to end cleanly, since a rock this open needs something at the top or it looks unfinished. A single crate with the gilt disc beneath, and there is nothing to fix on site. One person, taking it from under the disc. The spray at the crown is fragile. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

The gilt steel band and disc on this pierced rock lead to our stainless steel sculptures; the rock itself, open through every piercing, belongs to our organic sculptures, and a study with light from behind puts it among our indoor sculptures.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
