Description

An upright in clear cast resin, arched at the top, with brown ink suspended through the bottom half of the piece. The body climbs from a splayed foot to a narrow neck and folds over into a flared mouth at the top, and a wide fan of resin spreads to one side below it. The ink curls and branches through that fan like smoke or seaweed, rich brown at its heart and amber at its edges, while the neck and flare stay clear. Its black marble block is supplied with it.

Brown Ink Curling Through Clear Resin

Brown ink in clear resin reads as something alive, branching and curling like smoke in still air. It is held in the broad sweep near the foot, where the resin is widest, so the drawing has room to spread, and it thins out before the neck, leaving the turned-over flare glassy and bright. No two pieces carry the same pattern, since the ink settles differently every time. The surface is polished all over, and the clarity of the resin lets the ink be read from every side.

It suits a pedestal or a long sideboard in a study or a living room, set against a pale plain wall so the ink shows. It sits well beside dark wood, leather and books, and its brown and amber tones warm a cool room. Light from a window at one side makes the ink glow amber at its edges, and a spotlight from above keeps the clear flare sparkling.

More Ink, Another Colour, and Delivery

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The ink can climb further through the body or be held at the very foot, and it can be laid in another colour, black, blue or green. White marble is an option for the block. Amber and smoke-grey versions of this upright are sold separately. Casting and block come in one crate; the block is positioned first, and the upright placed on it by one person, who should hold the standing body and leave the flare alone. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
