Clear & Black Inked Arched Resin Sculpture - 60cm, an arched form with a rippled crest and side fin, black ink pooling at the base, on a black stand against a plain white background.
Clear & Black Inked Arched Resin Sculpture - 60cm $1,68700
Description

A compact arched form in clear cast resin. From a narrow foot the body climbs in a double curve to a rippled crest drawn out to a point, and a fin kicks out from one side a little below the middle. Black ink hangs in the resin at the bottom of the piece, climbing in plumes and fine threads and thinning away well short of the crest, while the fin carries a single dark stroke along its edge. A block of black marble, supplied, stands under it.

Black Ink Rising Through Clear Resin

Ink held in clear resin looks like smoke caught at the moment it rises, and that is the effect this colourway is built on. The plumes are dense in the foot, where the form is narrow, and they open and fade as the body widens, so the piece seems to grow out of its own shadow. Because the drift is never repeated, each casting carries its own pattern of threads. The clear crest and the upper curve are left free of ink, and the whole surface is polished so the black reads crisply against the transparent resin.

Give it a desk, a study shelf or a side table, somewhere it will be seen at close range and the threads of ink can be followed. Pale grey or white walls keep the black legible; against a dark wall the plumes vanish and only the outline is left. Lamplight from one side separates the threads, and the clear crest picks up a line of highlight along its ridge. It sits comfortably beside books, paper and dark wood.

Ink Carried Higher, or Kept to the Foot

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. The ink can be run further up into the body, kept to the foot alone, or laid in another colour, indigo or sepia among them, and the fin can be left clear with no dark edge. White marble can replace the black block. The form is also cast in gloss black, graded blue, aqua, emerald and colourless resin, and in its original black and white marbling, each sold separately. Casting and block share a single carton, and whoever unpacks it simply sets the block down and eases the piece onto it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Clear resin with black ink rising from the foot is one of many treatments among our resin sculptures, while the double curve and rippled crest lead on to our organic sculptures and compact pieces for the home fill our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
