Smoky charcoal lies along the trough of this cast resin splash, almost black where the resin runs deepest and cool with a hint of blue-grey, and it lightens to a soft slate as the water climbs, until every point is clear. Long and low, the splash surges up at both ends and sags in the middle. The broader surge is opened by two big holes high up and a little one low at its foot, and it flings a single long arm diagonally across the gap to a split tip; the other rises into a tall crest with one round opening and a thin finger at its side, while a few short fingers stand in the sag between.
The charcoal is graded by depth rather than laid on as one flat tone. Down in the trough it is dense and nearly opaque, with a cold blue showing wherever light gets through; through the rising body it thins to a translucent slate, like smoke drifting through water; and by the time it reaches the arm, the crest and the fingers it has gone completely, leaving the upper reaches as clear resin that carries nothing but highlights. The two big holes high in the broad end are cut through that clear resin, so they show as bright windows above the darker water.
Its length is the thing to show, so it wants a long, low surface viewed slightly from above, such as a credenza or a long sideboard, where each finger stands clear of the next against the wall. Charcoal sits well with black iron, oak and linen, and a white or pale plaster wall makes the grey look deeper and the clear tips sharper. A lamp to one side in the evening draws out the blue in the slate and throws small sparks along the clear points. Indoor use only.
Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. The price covers one splash in charcoal, sold individually. As a commission the grey can be taken darker, close to black, or softened to a pale smoke, and it can stay down in the trough or be allowed to climb further up the fingers; the long arm's reach is fixed at order too, further out over the gap or tucked closer to the body. Shipping is in a fitted wooden case with the piece lying on its side and the arm and crest bound in foam, and it is raised out of the case from beneath the heavy trough, never by the arm. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Smoky charcoal grading to clear along a long, low splash brings this piece into our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
