In this armchair a tub shell in translucent smoky brown wraps from a barrel back forward into two arms, fine pressed lines running the length of the wrap, and four legs rise out of the shell beneath it. Inside sits an upholstered pad in black. The shell is one piece: there is no joint at the arms and no separate frame behind the back.
The shell is one piece from the top of the back round into both arms and down into the seat, and that is the whole proposition: a joint at an arm would read as a grey line through a translucent body. The pressed lines are modelled into the outer mould face and have to hold their spacing as the surface turns from the back into the arm, which is where the work is. The four legs are drawn from the same body rather than fitted. The pad is made separately and upholstered to sit inside the shell without fixings, and the leg bottoms are ground level together so the chair takes a sitter without moving.
At 89cm to the top of the back this is an armchair for a sitting room, and the tub shape holds a sitter rather than letting them spread. It reads as a single form from behind as much as from the front, so it can stand away from a wall. Smoky brown resin goes almost opaque away from a light source, and the pressed lines disappear with it, which is worth knowing before it is put in a corner.
Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The pressed detail is the slow part. Its three open properties are yours. The shell can be tinted to any colour, and the seat pad, which comes with the chair, can be covered in a material agreed at order or left out. Shell width and arm height are each specified. Order more than one together and the wrap of the shell is matched across them. Its crate is shaped round the barrel back and the upholstered pad, and four people lift it from there. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A smoky brown tub shell with a black pad gives our art furniture an armchair; the wrapping shell suits our organic sculptures, the tinted body our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
