This cast resin block stool is a block of translucent resin, cream at one side and warming to amber at the other, holds a section of barked trunk set inside it. The cut end of the trunk shows on the top face as concentric growth rings inside a pale sapwood ring, and the dark bark runs down through the body of the block where the resin lets it be read.
The trunk is dried and stabilised before it goes in, then set in position so the cut end sits flush with the top face and the bark is held where it was put. The outer faces are ground dead flat and polished, which is what lets the bark be read at depth: any waviness left in one of them bends the grain behind it, and the trunk comes out looking crooked through the block when it is straight. The arrises are taken up sharp so the block reads as cut rather than moulded.
At 45cm it sits at seat height and will take an adult, and the flush cut face holds a tray or a lamp without either rocking. It suits a hall, a bedroom or the end of a run of seating, and it wants light from above so the bark can be read down into the block rather than just across the top. Two or three together read as a run of cut logs.
Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The set trunk section is the slow part. There are three decisions. The timber species is chosen when the order is placed, the resin is offered clear as well as cream, and the block proportions are drawn to order. Neither the block width nor the block height is fixed. Specify the whole group at once and the run of the bark down the block is held through it. The growth ring face and the block arrises are boxed off the crate wall, and two people should lift it rather than one. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A barked trunk read through a cream block belongs with our organic sculptures; the stool it makes is one of our art furniture, and the casting around the wood is listed with our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
