Brown Live Edge Timber Dining Table on Clear Legs - 200cm $10,59800
Description

This dining table is a single timber board on two clear panels. One edge of the board is squared and the other left waney - it follows the outline the tree grew, dipping and swelling along its whole length, with the darker sapwood line still readable. Both supports are clear acrylic panels set in from the ends, so the timber is what the eye finds and the legs are all but absent.

A Waney Edge Left as the Tree Grew It

A live edge cannot be specified, only selected. The board is chosen for the shape of that one edge and everything else follows from it: the squared side is cut parallel to the table's centre line rather than to the waney side, or the top would read as a wedge. The natural edge is stabilised rather than smoothed - the aim is that it still feels like bark country under the hand while carrying no loose fibre - and the sapwood line is left dark instead of being bleached out to match the heartwood. Because each board is its own shape, the two clear panels are positioned after the top is finished, set where the board actually balances rather than at a drawn dimension.

A live-edge top belongs where its long side can be seen, so give the waney edge to the open side of the room and put the squared edge against the wall or the serving side. It seats six comfortably and eight at a push. The clear panels mean the floor reads unbroken beneath it, which is worth having in a small dining room where a four-legged table makes the space look cut up. It goes well beside timber that has some figure of its own and awkwardly beside painted joinery.

Matching a Live Edge, and What Arrives

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The board is specified with the order and no two are alike, so the waney edge on yours is its own shape - that is the point of a live edge rather than a caveat. Length and depth can both be altered within what a single board allows, and the panels can be brought out to the ends if you prefer the top to look supported. The top travels on its flat with the waney edge sleeved, since a natural edge takes a knock differently from a machined one, and the two panels are crated beside it. Assembly is one operation from underneath and two people are wanted. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A waney edge left as the tree grew it belongs with our acrylic sculptures; a board balanced on two clear panels leads to our organic sculptures, and a table that leaves the floor unbroken joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
