Brown Barked Log Outline Clear Resin Stool, 55cm, dark bark log cased in clear resin with pale ringed cut top, shown on a plain white background.
Brown Barked Log Outline Clear Resin Stool - 55cm $4,45500
Description

In this stool a section of dark barked trunk is cased in clear resin that follows the log's own outline rather than squaring it off, so the piece keeps the trunk's silhouette. The cut end shows on the top as a pale ringed disc and the bark is read in the round through the sides.

The Resin Follows the Log's Own Outline

The log is dried and stabilised with its bark kept and fixed where it lies instead of being stripped away, and that is what lets the whole circumference be read. Following the log's own outline is the harder proposition: a squared block can be ground true on four flat faces, and an outline has to be worked to a curve that changes all the way round without cutting into the bark beneath it. The top is taken flat across the resin and the cut end at once, bringing two materials of different hardness to one plane. The foot is faced so the stool stands without packing.

At 55cm this is a tall stool or a side table beside a chair, and the flat top takes a tray or a drink. The bark is read through the sides, so it wants light from across the room rather than from above, and it is worth turning to the face of the log you prefer before it is set down. A solid section of trunk has real weight for its footprint, which makes it steady and slow to reposition.

The Log, the Outline, and Choosing the Section

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The barked section is what fills the time. Beyond the form itself, three things can change. The log is chosen from what is in stock at order, the bark is left coarse as here or worked back, and a tint is taken through the resin around it. You name the seat width and the seat height. Send one order for the group and the bark round the section stays even across it. The packing is designed round the log end and the resin faces; allow two people on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A dark barked log whose silhouette the clear casing follows gives our art furniture a tall stool; the bark answers our organic sculptures, the casing our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
