Brown Bark-Faced Log Resin Sculpture, 40cm, clear resin cube encasing textured dark bark with visible end grain disc on top, plain white background.
Brown Bark-Faced Log Resin Sculpture - 40cm $3,24000
Description

This block shows bark and nothing else. The log inside it has been positioned so no cut timber face reaches any of the four sides, leaving a coarse, fibrous red-brown bark surface all the way round, and only a small pale end grain disc at the top gives away that there is a log in there at all.

Bark on Every Face, No Timber Showing

Here the bark is the face rather than an edge. The bark is a deep red-brown, dry and fibrous, with a texture like coarse matting, and because it fills all four faces the block reads as a single warm mass rather than as bands of contrasting material. There is no pale sapwood line and no grain to follow, so the interest is entirely in surface texture, which is why it wants light coming across it rather than straight on. The small disc of end grain at the top is the only smooth thing on the piece, and it reads as a deliberate incident.

At 40cm, on a narrow footprint, the top suits a candle, a dish or a single book rather than a lamp with a wide shade. The warm brown makes it a forgiving block to place: it needs no pale wall behind it, it will not fight a patterned rug, and it sits comfortably with terracotta, linen and unfinished timber. It is a quiet piece and it does not ask for attention. Indoor use only.

Living With a Bark Surface Under Resin

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. A bark face behaves differently from a timber one and it is worth knowing before it arrives. In the first weeks it may shed a little grit, which is normal for a bark left as it came and stops on its own. Bark type is specified at order, from this coarse fibrous kind to a smoother plated bark, and the height can be altered while the footprint stays fixed. It is moved with a hand on each resin arris and never on the bark, which will shed under a grip. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Faced all round in red-brown bark, this block sits first with our organic sculptures, and also with our resin sculptures and our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
