A log section is set inside a block of clear resin. The block's faces are flat and its arrises square, and the log inside runs the full height of it, so the object is a rough natural form held in a hard geometric one. The log's sawn end shows through the top face, showing its rings and the radial checks in them. Down the sides the bark is left dark and deeply broken, and a broad band of pale sapwood runs the full height of the front.
What makes this work is that the same log presents three completely different faces in one object. The end grain reads warm reddish brown and almost smooth, ringed and split, and it sits just under the clear top so it is looked down into rather than at. The bark on the flanks is the opposite: near black, coarse, and broken into vertical ridges deep enough to cast their own shadow inside the resin. And between them the stripped band down the front is pale gold and combed with straight grain, the only smooth vertical surface on the log. Around all three the clear material fills out to the block's square faces, so the gap between the log and the arris varies from nothing where the bark stands proud to several centimetres where it falls away, and the corners of the block are solid clear resin.
At 40cm, with a flat top, it reads as a low pedestal form in a room. It suits standing on the floor beside a chair, at the end of a run of seating, in a hall, on a wide landing or on a hearth, and it needs nothing under it. The end grain is the part worth showing, so a position looked down on earns more than one at eye level, and the bark side wants a light from low and to one side to bring out the ridges. On a pale floor the clear corners nearly disappear and the log appears to stand on its own. Indoor use only.
Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. This design is also made at a second size, listed on its own. Two things are decided at order. How much bark is left: as here with a single stripped band down one face, or fully barked so the object is dark on all four sides, or fully stripped so it is pale throughout and the rings do all the work. And the clear margin: the standard leaves a few centimetres of resin at the corners, and a wider block gives more visual space around the log at the cost of a heavier object. Timber species is offered from what the studio holds, and the tone of the end grain is what changes most between them. It travels in one crate on a pallet, arrives as a single solid piece with nothing to assemble, and is a two-person lift because a block of clear resin this size is heavier than it looks. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A pale stripped face between grey-black bark belongs in our organic sculptures; the high-clarity casting leads on to our resin sculptures, and its pedestal shape to our abstract sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
