Bronze Etched Brass Top Oval Coffee Table, 120cm, with mottled brown top and glossy dark edge band on a black timber fin base, plain white background.
Bronze Etched Brass Top Oval Coffee Table - 120cm $10,39300
Description

This oval coffee table pairs an etched brass top with a timber base. The top's face is a dark mottled brown with a coppery glint that shifts as you move, and it is bordered by a rounded edge band in a much darker tone, glossy where the face is matte. Under it stands a cluster of upright timber fins, each one with an arch cut through its foot, set well inside the oval so the top overhangs on every side.

What the Etched Face Does in Moving Light

The two surfaces on the top are doing opposite things. The face is matte, dark and mottled, with a coppery glint that shifts as you move round it and never settles. The edge band around it is glossy and much darker, so it draws a hard line round the whole oval and separates the face from the room. Underneath, the timber fins are matte too and stand well inside the oval, each with an arch cut at the foot, so from a seat you see through the base to the floor and the top appears to hover. Every etched face is different.

It wants a room with clearance on every side and generous walking space round the oval. The top is the whole point, so it should be seen from standing as well as from a seat, and it takes diffuse light from above rather than a single lamp, which would bounce off the glossy edge band. The fin base is set well inside the oval, so seating can come closer than the plan suggests. It suits a plain rug. Indoors only.

The Plan, the Etching, and the Fin Base Beneath

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. Three things are open. The plan, from this oval through to a rounded rectangle or a true ellipse, and the fin base is redrawn to suit whichever is chosen. The etching, from this dense mottling to a sparser pattern that leaves more of the ground showing, or a plain brass face with no etching at all. And the base, which can be these timber fins, a pair of plain blocks, or a metal frame that lifts the top clear. Plan and height are each quoted to your figures. It ships in two crates on purpose built pallets, top and base apart, and four people are wanted. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An etched top over arched fins sits with our art furniture; the etched brass draws it into our metal sculptures, and the fin base to our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
