Blue Wave Crescent & Gilt Shoal Resin Sculpture, 68cm, showing a curling blue resin wave with four gold fish on wire S-curves, on a black base against a white background.
Blue Wave Crescent & Gilt Shoal Resin Sculpture - 68cm $1,83200
Description

A blue wave climbs from a heavy foot of rounded, rippling water, arches right over and breaks at its crest into a spray of dripping fingers. Fine silver wires loop down from that crest through the opening of the crescent in long S-curves to the foot, and four gilded fish ride along them, two of them close together, each facing the way its wire travels. The blue is deepest in the foot and lightens steadily upward, turning to frosted white at the tips.

Blue Water Breaking Over a Gilded Shoal

A shoal is not a row. The wires here are drawn as loops rather than as straight stems, curving down from the crest through the hollow of the crescent to the foot, so the fish travel through the wave's own opening. Two fish that look well spaced from the front can sit close when the piece is turned, and there is no position from which all of it can be checked at once, so the whole assembly is set up and then walked round. Against the loops, the blue does the opposite work: dense and dark in the knot of water at the foot, paling as the wave rises until the crest breaks into frosted, dripping fingers.

At 68cm it gives a broad study desk or a sideboard its focal point, with the shoal meeting the eye of someone seated nearby. The wires carry the fish out past the edge of the marble on one side, so it needs clear room on that side; put it hard against a book or a lamp and the outermost fish is hidden and the shoal stops reading as a shoal. The stone takes a small footprint but the wires reach well beyond it, which is what to measure.

The Shoal, the Blue and Delivery

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The wire loops curve down through the hollow of the crescent and carry the fish clear of the wave and apart from one another, so their spacing is settled with the wave already standing. To commission, the blue can go deeper or stay paler towards the crest, the gilding can be offered in silver, and the loops drawn wider or closer. It travels with the wave crated upright and the shoal boxed apart, and the wires go into the body once it is in place. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue crescent breaking over a gilded shoal on looping wires settles in with our organic sculptures, our metal sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
