Blue Wave & White Sphere Cast Resin Sculpture - 97cm, a curling blue resin wave with a ribbed white sphere at its center, shown on a plain white background.
Blue Wave & White Sphere Cast Resin Sculpture - 97cm $5,23200
Description

A blue wave sweeps up behind a white ribbed sphere and curls over the top of it, with a long pointed lip running out beneath the ball and a clear plume streaming out above it, so the ball sits between its two arms. Soft horizontal ribs run round the middle of the sphere under a smooth crown, and the wave around it is polished smooth. The blue is strongest in the curl and along the trough under the ball and fades to clear in the plume. Three openings pierce the wave's rising wall beside the ball, and the wave stands on its own flat foot, with no base.

A Ribbed Surface Against a Smooth One

The whole object is a contrast between two surfaces and it only works if neither one interrupts the other. The sphere is ribbed, which means a regular repeating pattern; the wave is polished, which means an unbroken reflection. Bring them too close and the ribs are seen through the water in a distorted repeat that looks like a fault in the casting; hold them too far apart and the ball stops being held and starts being displayed. The gap is therefore set by what the wave does to the ribs rather than by a measurement, and the two are assembled and looked at together before either is signed off.

The sphere is white and the wave is blue, so a pale surface loses the ball and a dark one loses the water; something mid-toned carries both. Oak, mid grey stone or a brass tray all work, and white marble is the one to avoid. Long and shallow, it wants a long surface rather than a square one, and the ball should be at the centre of whatever it stands on rather than the piece.

Ribs, Tint and Getting It Home

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The sphere is ribbed and the wave over it is smooth, and the two surfaces meet without either one interrupting the other. The sphere is offered in other finishes, the blue is taken deeper, and the wave is drawn to close further over the top. The ribs on the ball can be run vertically instead, which changes the piece entirely and is worth seeing before deciding. It travels in one crate with the ball bedded separately and the wave faced at both ends, and the two are brought together on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Water closing over a made sphere is organic sculpture against geometry; the wave is resin sculpture; and two finishes on one object read best in indoor sculpture light.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
