Blue Translucent Rectangular Acrylic Box Sculpture - 60cm by Giant Sculptures, a tall square-plan acrylic box in translucent blue tones, shown against a plain light grey background.
Blue Translucent Rectangular Acrylic Box Sculpture - 60cm $1,77000
Description

An upright rectangular acrylic sculpture, square in plan, made as a box of translucent blue panel with a closed top and offered in two thicknesses, a standard panel and a heavier one. The faces are a clear, even blue from top to foot, brightest through the middle and a shade deeper towards the outer corners, where the walls behind show through. The vertical corners show as fine bright lines rather than as heavy joints, which is the only detail on an otherwise plain object, and the whole form is translucent enough to read the wall behind it as a soft field of colour rather than as an image.

A Rectangle Where the Edges Are the Finish

There is nowhere to hide on a shape like this. A curved or faceted body distracts the eye with what it does to light; a plain rectangle offers four flat faces and four vertical edges and nothing else, so the edges become the entire finish. Each has to be dead straight over the full height, and the two faces meeting there have to arrive at the same plane, because a corner that steps even slightly catches the light along its whole length and is the first thing anyone sees. The panel is translucent, which keeps the blue clear rather than solid and lets the corner lines read as bright rather than dark. The top is closed flush so nothing shows down inside.

A plain upright block is useful in the places a figurative piece is not. At 60cm it works at the end of a hall, beside a doorway, in an alcove, on a stair turn, or in twos to flank an opening, and it is happy on the floor as well as on a surface. It does its best work with light behind it or beside it, where the blue goes luminous and the corner lines light up; head-on light leaves it reading as a solid coloured box. Put it against a plain pale wall and give it a hard floor rather than a rug, since a soft surface lets it sit very slightly out of true and the eye checks a rectangle against the room.

Panel, Proportion and Lifting It

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. Colour, proportion and surface are all open: it can be made in this blue, in another single tint or a smoke, or in clear panel with nothing on it, and the box itself can take another shape, a tall narrow column or a long, low bench-height mass, on a square or a rectangular plan. It is made in two thicknesses of panel, chosen at the order and each priced on its own. Lift it from low down on two opposite faces, never by an edge or a corner, where the panel is at its most vulnerable. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An upright blue box with nothing on it but its own fine, bright corners stands with our geometric sculptures, our acrylic sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
