Blue to Red Open Void Cast Resin Bar Chair - 118cm
Blue to Red Open Void Cast Resin Bar Chair - 118cm $4,59200
Description

This cast resin bar chair is built as a stack of open rectangles. From a broad foot the frame rises in five tiers, each a rounded rectangular void framed by a band of material, and above the seat two more voids form a low back with a pair of open arms curving forward. There is no solid panel anywhere on it. The resin is graded across the width rather than the height: a saturated blue down one side, a strong red down the other, and the two meet through a purple band up the middle of the frame.

Blue Crossing Into Red

A chair made entirely of holes is an odd thing to attempt and the frame is what makes it possible. Five stacked rectangular voids rise from a broad foot, each framed by a band of material of consistent section, and above the seat two further voids form a low back with open arms curving forward. There is no solid panel anywhere on it, and the sections at the corners of each void are visibly fuller than along the straight runs. The grading is the other unusual decision: it runs across the width rather than up the height, saturated blue down one side, strong red down the other, meeting in a purple band up the middle. Standing to one side, the chair is one colour.

At 118cm high this is a bar chair for a counter or a high table, and it needs a footring or a rail nearby because the frame provides none. The colour grades across the width, so it looks blue from one side and red from the other and the purple band is only seen head on: that makes the approach angle a real decision. A plain counter front suits it. It is light enough for one person. Indoors.

The Voids, the Crossing, and the Wait

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The colour crossing is the slow part. There are three open questions. The two colours are open and can be replaced with any pair. Which side each falls on is your choice, and the void count can be changed. The seat height is settled at order. The seat height and the overall width are whatever you specify. The group is made as one so that where blue gives way to red reads the same on each piece. The open voids and the arm tops must go in padded, and four people are needed to place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frame of stacked voids sets this bar chair beside our geometric sculptures; drawn up to a counter it belongs to our art furniture, and its crossing of blue into red suits our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
