Blue Textured Lobe Open Curve Resin Sculpture, 31cm, glossy blue curved form with one dimpled lobe and smooth surfaces, on a plain white background.
Blue Textured Lobe Open Curve Resin Sculpture - 31cm $1,89000
Description

A polished blue form, open through the middle so the two sides turn past one another. One lobe carries a field of fine dimples and every other surface is left smooth. The colour deepens where the material is thickest. It settles wherever the curve touches down, and nothing is supplied to seat it.

One Textured Field and No More

Texture on a transparent object is a stronger tool than it is on an opaque one, because it does not sit on the surface: it scatters the light coming through from behind and turns a piece of the body opaque. That makes it expensive to use. A second textured field anywhere on this form would divide the piece into two bright halves with two dull patches and no argument between them. So there is one, placed on the lobe that faces away from the opening, where it stops the eye at the far side of the turn and sends it back through the gap. The rest of the object is left to do what clear material does.

At 31cm it has no front and can be seen from every side, so it needs a place that can be walked around or at least approached from two directions, such as an island or a central table. The dimpled field is the one thing that changes completely with the angle, appearing as a pale patch from one side and vanishing from the other. That happens under light coming from behind it rather than from overhead.

The Texture, the Opening, and Delivery

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The dimpled field is drawn broader or moved to the other lobe, the opening is cut wider, and the blue is deepened or taken toward a green. A version with no texture at all is made and is a cleaner, colder object. It is also cast at other sizes. It is sent in one box in a cut bed supporting both lobes with the opening bridged, and one person lifts it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

One lobe textured and the rest left smooth is organic sculpture; the blue body is resin sculpture; and a form with no front is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
