A blue dish drawn out to a point at either end, its rim rising and falling in waves. The surface is worked all over into a crackled, rippled texture except towards the middle, where a smooth, rounded pool is left, and a small folded boat in a dark gold tone sits on the rippled ridge at the edge of that pool. The boat comes with the dish, and the dish lies flat on whatever it is put on.
The boat is a scale device before it is a decoration. A rippled blue dish is a shape at any size: without something recognisable on it the eye has no way to decide whether it is looking at a saucer or at a lake, and the ripples read as a pattern. Put a boat on the water and both questions are answered at once: the dish becomes a stretch of sea, the texture becomes weather, and the smooth pool beside the boat reads as calm water just ahead of it. That is why the boat is kept small and dark against the blue, riding the ripples at the pool's edge rather than sitting in the middle of it.
It is a coffee table or console piece and is read from directly above, so it belongs on a surface below eye level rather than on a shelf. A position where it will not be knocked is worth choosing, since the boat stands proud of the surface on its rippled ridge. Light from above throws the boat's shadow across the ripples and leaves the smooth pool bright, which is most of the effect.
Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The boat is finished in another tone, the blue is deepened, and the pool is cut wider. Other lengths of dish are made, and the pool is drawn wider or set off centre, with the boat placed beside it wherever it falls. A silver boat reads cooler against the blue, and a black one almost disappears into its own shadow. Dish and boat are packed together, and the dish is lifted with a hand along each long edge, never by either point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A rippled blue dish with a small gold-toned boat beside its smooth pool is gathered with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
