Blue Rayed Disc Resin Sculpture - 101cm, a ringed disc with off-centre opening and ray-textured face, deep blue fading to pale edges, on a black marble base against a plain white background.
Blue Rayed Disc Resin Sculpture - 101cm $4,65900
Description

A roughly circular slab pierced away from its middle, the face worked into rays that run from the opening out to a rippled edge. Blue right through the disc, deepest round the opening and paling toward the rippled rim. A broad black marble base comes with it, wider than the disc is deep, so the ring stands steady.

An Opening Set Off Centre

Setting the opening off centre is what makes the rays readable: from the middle they would be a wheel, and from one side they run long on one edge and short on the other. The rim is left rippled for the same reason: a circle cut true would turn the whole face into a diagram of itself. The body is why one blue gives a full range of tone: worked in rays, it changes thickness the whole way round. Worked into rays across both faces and left with that texture, the rim rippled rather than cut true.

It suits a console or a long sideboard, set where the opening is level with the eye. Give it a pale ground. A blue disc on a dark wall loses the opening that makes it a ring. Light from behind puts the whole disc into a ring and the rays into relief, which is the one position that shows both. It reads as a ring from the door and as a worked surface from within arm's reach.

Moving the Opening, and Two Parts Joined on Site

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. We will set the opening elsewhere on the face, change the blue, or cut the base to another plan. Move the opening off centre further and the rays are redrawn to it, because they run from the opening out rather than from the middle. Disc and base are crated together and are joined only once they are in the room. Two people, hands on the rim at either side, and it is set down onto the base rather than slid. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A disc worked in rays round an opening leads to our organic sculptures; the blue rayed casting belongs among our resin sculptures, and it frames a view through its opening among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
