Blue Pierced Teardrop Ring Resin Sculpture - 64cm
Blue Pierced Teardrop Ring Resin Sculpture - 64cm $3,23900
Description

A blue ring, faceted round its outer edge and resting on nothing at all. Colour gathers at the outer edges and thins through the middle of the band, and the opening sits low, which leaves the thinnest material in the casting directly above the flat the piece rests on. There is nothing beneath it: the ring stands on a cut made flat for the purpose.

What a Ring Does With No Base Under It

A ring with no base has to solve its own footing, and the answer here is a flat taken off the bottom of the outer edge. That sounds trivial and is not: the flat has to be wide enough to hold the piece against a nudge and narrow enough that the eye does not read it as a foot. Too broad and the ring appears to have been stood on a plinth cast into it, which is exactly the look a base-less design is avoiding. The opening is placed against that flat. It sits low in the ring, so the material left beneath it is the thinnest in the casting and sits directly over the only part touching the surface. That is what leaves the piece resting on a point rather than planted, and it is why the facets round the outside are cut broadest at the foot, where the eye needs to be told there is enough material to carry the rest.

At 64cm it needs nothing under it, and a console, a wide low table or the floor will take it, the surface itself becoming part of the piece since the ring meets it directly. A dark surface does more for the graded blue than a pale one. It should be met square, because from the side the opening closes and the ring reads as a slab, and it wants a bright ground behind the opening rather than a wall close up.

The Opening, the Cut Foot, and Delivery

Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. The ring is cast at other diameters, the opening is cut rounder, and a stone base is offered beneath it. The facets are also cut finer, which changes the outside from a few broad sweeps to a scatter of small ones and alters the piece considerably at this size. A frosted body is offered and removes the depth the graded blue is read through. It ships standing, with the opening blocked out and the cut foot protected, and two people take it by the outer edge rather than through the opening, where the material is at its slightest. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A ring standing on its own cut foot belongs with our organic sculptures; blue that pales through the middle of the band leads to our resin sculptures, and a base-less ring for a wide low table joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
