Blue Pierced Ring on a Grey Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture - 170cm
Blue Pierced Ring on a Grey Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture - 170cm $3,23900
Description

A blue ring raised on a tall grey marble plinth, pierced by a single teardrop opening. The ring stands on a black slab, and the plinth beneath that is a grey marble with heavy pale veining running through it, so two thirds of what occupies the room is stone rather than casting.

The Ring Is a Third of What You See

Raising a small object to standing height is not the same job as making a large one. On its own the ring is a table piece; on a tall plinth it becomes the top of a column, and the column is then two thirds of the object. That forces the stone to be chosen for figure rather than for neutrality, which is why this one is a grey marble with heavy veining rather than a plain black. A plain plinth under a piece this size reads as packaging, something the sculpture is standing on until it can be put somewhere better. A figured stone reads as part of the work. The black slab between the two is doing the necessary thing: it separates the veining from the casting so the eye does not try to read one into the other, and it gives the blue a dark edge to start from at exactly the height where the piece changes material.

This is floor work. It needs only a small square of floor with room to walk up to it, and it belongs in an entrance, on a half-landing, or at the quiet end of a big room. At 1.7m the opening sits above eye level for most people, so the piece is read against the wall behind it rather than through it, and a plain wall does more for it than a papered one. The column is stone and should stand on something flat and firm.

The Plinth, the Ring, and Delivery

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The stone is made at other proportions, the opening is cut wider, and the blue is run almost out at the head. The column is also made at other heights and in other stones, which is the alteration that changes it most, since the proportion of stone to casting is the whole design. The ring itself is worked at other diameters for this column. Two crates arrive and the piece goes together on site: the column wants two people and a trolley, the slab beds onto its top, and the ring rests on the slab without fixing. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue ring carried on a figured column belongs with our organic sculptures; blue cast to clear at the opening leads to our resin sculptures, and a tall piece to greet guests at the door joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
