Blue Openwork Loop Resin Sculpture - 50cm by Giant Sculptures, an abstract blue looping form on a black marble base, shown against a plain light background.
Blue Openwork Loop Resin Sculpture - 50cm $1,55300
Description

A loop opening out of itself with a flare at the crown, the blue at full strength and the interior left open, on a block of black marble. Blue at full strength through the whole loop, with the flare at the crown the only part that pales. Black marble is supplied beneath it, a shallow square block.

More Colour Than There Is Material

An open loop is mostly air, so the quantity of resin in it is small and the colour has to work harder than the material does. An open loop is mostly air, so there is far less resin in it than its size suggests. What makes up the difference is that the eye passes through two walls at every crossing, and the blue therefore arrives at twice the strength the quantity of material would give. An open loop in a saturated body means the material is read twice at every crossing, so the piece carries more depth of colour than the quantity of resin in it would suggest. Polished over the whole loop, and the flare is taken to the same grade so it does not read as a separate part.

A writing desk or a low cabinet suits it, with enough clearance to reach the far side. A pale ground behind it. Blue this strong against a dark wall closes into a silhouette. Light from behind opens the whole loop; light from in front gives back a blue outline and no interior. The flare at the crown is what the eye finds first, from any distance in the room.

Drawing the Flare Wider, and One Crate

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. If you would rather a wider flare, it is drawn at the order; the loop is opened on request and another blue is available. Draw the flare wider and the loop beneath is redrawn to carry it, because a crown this open needs more material under it to look settled. One crate, the stone packed flat beneath, and nothing to fix on site. One person, hands under the stone, and the loop is not a handle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A deep blue loop opening into a flare at its crown belongs to our organic sculptures; the blue doubled at every crossing joins our resin sculptures, and a surface you can reach all round suits its size in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
