Blue Ink-Trail Shard Arch Resin Sculpture, 58cm, fan-pleated arch with jagged shard edges, blue fading to clear with black ink trails, on a black marble base against a white background.
Blue Ink-Trail Shard Arch Resin Sculpture - 58cm $2,02400
Description

An arch of resin worked into broad pleats that radiate from the opening at its centre like the folds of a fan, its outer rim broken into blocky, stepped shards like ice. Blue is banked at both feet and clears upward to almost nothing at the crown, and black ink trails run through the whole fan, most of them following the pleats. A long black marble block is supplied, and the arch stands on it on its two feet.

Pleats Fanned Out to a Broken Rim

An arch pleated like a fan is a piece about rhythm, and the rhythm here breaks at the edge. The pleats radiate evenly from the opening, each one a broad, faceted fold, but where they reach the rim they break into square-cut blocks and steps of different heights, so the outline reads as ice cracking away rather than as a drawn curve. The ink trails run along the pleats for most of their length and then wander across them, and the blue gathers at the feet so the colour seems to drain down into the block.

Set square on to the room, it is at home on a console or along a wide shelf. A pale wall makes the ink trails read; a dark one turns the whole fan to a silhouette. Light from behind passes through the clear crown and the shards along the rim, and turns the ink into a drawing. The arch reads as one shape from away, and its rim breaks into separate shards as you come to it.

Adding Shards, and Getting It In

Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. More shards or fewer are cut along the rim, the ink is left out, and the blue is carried up to the crown. Cut with fewer shards, the rim turns calmer and closer to a plain arch; cut with more, it reads as ice breaking up. The arch and its block travel in one crate, packed upright, and the arch is lifted by its two feet with no hand on the shards along the rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pleated blue arch with a rim of broken shards and ink run through its folds belongs among our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
