Blue Hollow Ovoid Resin Sculpture - 100cm, a smooth pebble-like form fading from clear at the crown to deep blue at the foot with suspended flecks, on a plain white background.
Blue Hollow Ovoid Resin Sculpture - 100cm $4,99500
Description

A smooth ovoid drawn in at the foot and clearing at the crown, with flecks held at different depths through the wall. Clear at the crown and strong blue at the foot, with darker flecks suspended where the colour is heaviest. Its outline swells on one side more than the other, like a pebble. It rests on its own cut foot and nothing is supplied with it.

Flecks That Fall Rather Than Being Arranged

The flecks are what makes each one different and they are not arranged: they sit at different depths through the wall and in different places on every piece, so no two are the same object. Anyone ordering one should expect a distribution rather than a pattern, and the graduation behind it is the only fixed part. The ovoid is cast hollow behind a thin wall, and that is why the colour deepens toward the foot: there is more material to look through where the form draws in. Every face is polished, and the flecks are left as they fall inside the body.

It belongs on a floor where a quiet mass has room around it and nothing competes. Give it a pale ground, so the clear crown does not read as a gap in the piece. Light from behind sets the flecks floating in the blue; light from in front stops them dead. It reads as a single blue mass from the door and the flecks are a near fact.

Leaving the Flecks Out, and Four People to Place It

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. On request the flecks are left out, the blue is exchanged, or the ovoid is made at another height. Leave the flecks out and the graduation carries the piece alone, which is a much quieter object at the same size. One crate on a pallet, and it comes out whole and goes straight down. Two people with hands under the widest part of the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue ovoid shaped like a smooth pebble belongs to our organic sculptures; the flecks held through its hollow wall join our resin sculptures, and a floor with quiet room round it takes the mass among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
