Blue Guardian Lion with Ball Under One Paw Cast Resin Sculpture, 38cm, translucent cobalt blue finish, curled mane and collar detail, on a plain white background.
Blue Guardian Lion with Ball Under One Paw Cast Resin Sculpture - 38cm $2,56400
Description

Cobalt blue resin forms this guardian lion, which sits upright with its weight back and one forepaw resting on a carved ball. A banded collar crosses the chest beneath rows of close curls that fall from the crown to the shoulders. The colour is deepest in the mane, the paws and the ball and clears towards a paler blue at the chest and along the flank, solid at a distance and translucent at every edge.

A Carved Ball Beneath a Cobalt Forepaw

The ball is carved with an open pattern and sits close against the chest, so the forepaw resting on it is worked in the same pass and the two read as one gesture rather than an animal with an object set down beside it. A strong blue holds detail only where the cuts are deep, so each curl of the mane is undercut until it carries its own shadow, and the pattern on the ball is cut deeper in proportion than it would be in clear resin. Any bubble trapped in a tint this dark shows as a pale spot, so a casting with one in the mane is discarded and poured again.

It is one half of a guardian pair, and its companion, the blue lion holding the ball under the other forepaw, takes the opposite side of the doorway, stair or fireplace. At 38cm it sits well on a broad sill, a console or a hall chest. Behind it, pale plaster, limestone or oak keeps the blue reading as a colour instead of a silhouette, and side lighting sharpens every curl. On its own, set it with the ball towards whoever approaches.

Colour, the Matching Lion and Delivery

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The blue can be deepened towards navy or lightened to a clear sky blue, and teal, amber and a clear casting with gold leaf are made from the same model. The price is for one lion; to make a pair, order its companion too, cast at the same size so the two match. Other scales can be quoted. Each lion travels in a fitted crate, its ball cushioned, and one person can lift it from beneath. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

This cobalt guardian with its forepaw on a carved ball sits among our lion statues; its curls and banded collar suit our figurative sculptures, and the deep blue casting our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
