The lion in this cast resin sculpture sits upright with its weight back and its ball under the forepaw on your left as you face it. The mane is worked in rows of tight curls from the crown down over the shoulders, and a banded collar crosses the chest with a boss at the centre. The resin is a cobalt blue, deepest in the mane, the paws and the ball and paling to sky blue across the chest, so it reads as one strong colour across a room and clears to the light close to.
A mane in curls is a set of small hollows, and hollows are where a casting goes wrong: any of them can hold a bubble and a bubble in a dark tint shows as a pale spot rather than a shadow. A dark tint is what makes that expensive: on a colourless animal a fleck of trapped air is barely visible, and against this blue it reads as a pale dot, so a casting with one anywhere in the mane is set aside rather than made good. Each curl is then undercut far enough to sit in its own shade, which is what lets a mane read from across a room rather than dissolving into texture. The collar runs across the grain of the curls, so it is cut after them and taken to a higher polish, which is why it catches light when the mane does not. The ball is turned true and its top face is dressed where the paw meets it.
A dark tint needs a pale ground to be read as a colour rather than a silhouette, so this belongs against white, plaster or oak instead of a dark paint. At 38cm it sits on a console, a hall chest or a run of shelving, or it guards one side of a doorway or a stair foot, turned towards the room. Set it with the paw and the ball towards the approach, because that side is the front and the profile view loses the collar entirely.
Bespoke commissions take 5–6 weeks; standard pieces take 3–4. The blue can be taken from this cobalt to a pale sky blue, and the lion can also be had in teal, amber, smoke or a clear casting set with gold leaf. Its companion, the blue lion with the ball beneath its other forepaw, is made to the same size so the two can stand as a pair, and this price is for one animal. Scales are cut to order, and a pair can be made at full height. Each lion travels in its own fitted crate with the paw and ball packed clear of the wall of the box, and one person can place it, lifting under the haunches. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A guardian lion with its paw on a ball belongs with our lion statues; a mane of tight curls and a banded collar lead to our figurative sculptures, and cobalt resin paling to sky blue joins our resin sculptures.

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
