Blue Granulated Spiral Curl Acrylic Bar Sculpture, 160cm, a granulated blue resin spiral with angled tips set upright on a frosted acrylic bar, shown against a plain white background.
Blue Granulated Spiral Curl Acrylic Bar Sculpture - 160cm $5,17900
Description

A curl of blue resin granulated all over, standing upright at the middle of a long frosted acrylic bar. The spiral turns nearly full circle and stops, each end sliced away at an angle to leave a sharp point. Every part of its surface is broken into a coarse grain rather than left smooth. Ink blue is deepest through the belly of the sweep and pales toward each end. The frosted acrylic bar supplied with it carries on well beyond the spiral at both sides.

A Surface With No Bright Line On It

Granulating the whole surface of a curl is a decision about distance. Smooth, this form returns one long highlight down the sweep and reads as a drawn line; broken into a coarse grain, it returns nothing sharp at all and reads as a solid with weight in it. That is why the ink blue is banked through the belly here rather than graded evenly: a granular surface scatters a soft gradient into mush, and it needs the colour to change where the form changes so the two are read together.

A long sideboard or a console with a clear run, and the bar should be seen along its whole length. A grained surface is indifferent to where the light comes from, which makes it forgiving to position. A plain wall behind keeps the outline, since a grained surface has no edge of its own to fall back on. Granulated all over, it has no bright line anywhere on it, so from across a room it is a silhouette and from close it is a surface, with almost nothing in between.

Spans, the Granulation and Delivery

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The granulation is worked finer, the ink blue is lifted toward aqua, and the frosted bar is polished clear. Other spans are made on this curl, with its bar kept to the same proportion each time. Curl and bar travel in one long crate, wrapped apart, and the frosted bar is lifted from beneath along its length rather than by either end. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Cast acrylic carries it, which puts it with acrylic sculpture; the spiral itself is organic sculpture; and a granular surface repays indoor sculpture lighting.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
