Blue Graduated Pierced Fin Resin Sculpture, 83cm, with organic pierced openings shading from clear at the crown to deep blue at the base, on a black stand against a plain white background.
Blue Graduated Pierced Fin Resin Sculpture - 83cm $2,02400
Description

Colour runs the whole height of the Blue Graduated Pierced Fin Resin Sculpture: colourless and glassy at the crown, deepening through mid-blue to a near-black blue where it meets the base. A thin fin reaches out to one side at about mid-height. The largest opening is cut through the pale crown, and the blue body below it is pierced again and again, from small rounds at the waist to a long opening above the foot.

A Crown Left Clear Above a Blue Foot

The graduation and the piercing work against each other. The crown is broad and colourless, and the largest opening is cut right through it, so it reads as clear glass framing a window; the body below is dark and full of holes, so it reads as a mass with daylight showing through it. The change between them is continuous with no line anywhere in it. The side fin is the thinnest passage on the sculpture and it is left pale, which makes it read as separate from the body it grows out of, and a second, spiked fin breaks the outline low on the same side.

At 83cm overall it stands well on a console, a sideboard or in a hall, and its narrow footprint means it takes very little of any surface. It rewards being lit from below or behind, because the clear crown and the dark foot then read as two different materials. It wants a plain wall and no clutter beside it, and the fin should point into the room rather than at the wall. Indoor use only.

Where the Graduation Starts and Stops

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The height at which the colour begins is specified at order and it changes the piece considerably. Low, and the sculpture is a clear form with a coloured foot; high, as here, and the blue occupies two thirds of it and the clear crown becomes the incident. It cannot be adjusted afterwards. Depth of colour is set separately, from a pale wash to the near-black used here, and other tints are offered from the studio range. The base is available in an alternative stone, and a deeper base can be specified where the piece is going onto a low surface. On handling: the side fin and the narrow sections around the smallest openings are where this piece is fragile, so it is packed in shaped foam with the base boxed apart from it, and it is lifted with a hand under the crown and one around the foot, never by the fin. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pierced fin that darkens from clear to navy sits with our abstract sculptures; a crown cut through by its largest opening joins it to our organic sculptures, and blue deepening almost to black at the foot suits our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
