Blue Graded Wound Ribbon Curl Resin Sculpture, 110cm, a twisting ribbon form shifting from pale blue to deep cobalt, shown on a plain white background.
Blue Graded Wound Ribbon Curl Resin Sculpture - 110cm $2,70000
Description

A ribbon turned upward in four curls of clear resin that grows bluer as it descends, pale and glassy at the flared mouth and deepening to a strong cobalt in the lowest turn. The curls are polished, so each one is seen through the next and the lowest turn reads almost solid with colour.

Cobalt Gathering in the Lowest Turn

A grade that deepens toward the foot gives a wound ribbon its weight where it needs it. At the top the resin is nearly clear and the curls read as glass; by the lowest turn the blue has thickened to cobalt and the spiral seems to rest on its own colour. Because the curls are polished rather than frosted, each overlap is transparent, so every turn shows the next behind it and the grade is seen through several layers at once. The edges are kept clean throughout.

Set it on a sideboard or a long console, or raise it on a low stand in a sitting room, where daylight can reach it from behind or from the side. Against a pale wall the cobalt reads strongly; with a window behind it, the upper curls turn almost to light and the lowest holds its colour like deep water.

Cobalt, Its Polish, and Getting It Home

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The blue can be carried higher up the column or held in the lowest turn, deepened toward navy or lifted toward sky. The polish can be taken down to a satin, which softens the cobalt without losing the grade. It is crated upright, the mouth of the ribbon wrapped on its own, and it can be lifted by one person, by its lowest turn, once the crate is opened and the packing is cleared. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Blue settling into the lowest curl belongs with our organic sculptures; clear resin turning cobalt suits our resin sculptures, and a cobalt-footed column joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
