This acrylic side table is square in plan. It is built as an open cube - four upright faces and a solid top, no base - and inside it stands a second cube of narrower span, reaching most of the way to the underside of the top. Both are blue acrylic graded from deep at the top to almost clear at the floor, so looking through the outer faces the inner cube reads as a second set of blue lines set in from the first.
Two graded cubes inside one another only work if the grades line up. Each of the eight faces is cut from the same sheet run and set with the deep end uppermost, and the inner cube's grade is matched to the height it actually stands at rather than to the outer one, so the two colours arrive at the same depth at the same level. Get that wrong and the inner cube reads as a darker object floating in a lighter one. The corners are mitred rather than butted, which puts a 45-degree joint down each vertical edge, and that is why the corners of the finished table read as the deepest blue on it. Every joint reads as a crease rather than a seam, so the cube looks folded rather than assembled.
A cube with a solid top and open sides gives a useful surface and a visible interior, so it works beside a chair where the inner cube can be seen rather than pushed against a wall. At 55cm it is at the upper end for a side table and matches the arm of most sofas. The graded blue is worth having over a pale floor, since the clear feet let the floor read through and the whole piece appears to sit lighter than its size suggests.
Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The inner cube can be brought up higher or left out for a plain open cube, and the grade is available in other colours or reversed. The plan can be cut wider on the same construction. Both cubes are made up here and the table arrives ready to stand, since the mitred corners are finished to a standard that cannot be reached on site. The crate is square and bulky rather than heavy, and one person can carry it, though two make it easier through a doorway. Nothing needs doing on arrival beyond removing the film from eight faces. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
One blue cube standing inside another belongs with our indoor sculptures; mitred corners that read as creases point to our acrylic sculptures, and an open-sided cube beside a chair joins our art furniture.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
