Blue Graded Cut Sphere on Marble Resin Sculpture - 64cm
Blue Graded Cut Sphere on Marble Resin Sculpture - 64cm $2,56400
Description

A blue ball opened into two hollows, graded pale at the middle of each and deep at the edge. The hollows wrap past one another on a single wall, and the grading is set so that each hollow has a pale centre to sit in rather than an even tone across it. Under the ball lies black marble, which comes with it.

Pale in the Middle, Deep at the Edge

The grade on this one runs the opposite way to most of the cut, pale at the middle of each scoop and deepening to the rim, and it is the arrangement that suits a ball of this size best. At this diameter the scooped faces are broad enough to look empty under an even tint. Putting the pale part where the surface is widest and the deep blue where it turns gives each hollow a centre to sit in, so the two read as bowls rather than as two blue areas divided by a band.

At 64cm it suits a console, a low table or a broad shelf where it can be met from the front, the one view in which both pale centres show at once. Light from the side serves it better than light from above: a downlight fills the scoops evenly and removes the difference between the pale middles and the deep rims, which is the whole of what the piece does.

The Grading, the Stone, and Delivery

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The grade is set to run the other way, the blue is deepened, and the stone is made at other proportions. Other diameters are cast on this slab, and the grading is set to start from the foot rather than from the middle of each face. A frosted body is offered and works against this one in particular, since a graded tint read through a frosted surface arrives as a single tone. It travels as two crated items with the stone packed apart, and the ball is lifted by the outer curve rather than through the opening between the scoops. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A ball graded from the middle out is organic sculpture; the colour sits in the body as resin sculpture; and scooped faces want indoor sculpture light.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
