Blue Graded Channelled Cross-Panel Side Table (45cm) by Giant Sculptures, acrylic slab top with channel cut, cross-panel base, blue fading to clear, on a plain white background.
Blue Graded Channelled Cross-Panel Side Table - 45cm $3,24000
Description

A single channel is cut across the upper face of this side table's slab top, deep enough to read as a line from a standing height and shallow enough to leave the surface usable. It is carried on two panels crossed at right angles, halved into each other where they meet, so the base reads as a cross from above. The blue is strongest through the top and clears toward the floor.

One Channel Across the Top, Two Panels Crossed Under It

Halving two panels into each other sounds like joinery and behaves like nothing of the sort in cast acrylic, because there is no grain to hide a sloppy shoulder and the joint is seen through both panels at once. Each housing is cut to the thickness of the panel that enters it with no tolerance to spare, then bonded and reworked so the two faces run through the crossing without a step. The channel in the top is cut after the slab is finished, and its floor is polished as carefully as the surface either side, since a matt bottom to the channel would read as dirt. The grade is laid in during the cast rather than sprayed, so the colour is in the material and the crossing panels carry it through the joint.

A base that reads as a cross has no bad side, so this is a table to set out from a wall: between two chairs, at the corner of a sofa, or on its own with room to walk round. The channel across the top is where a book or a remote falls into, which is either useful or a place things get lost depending on the room. At 45cm it meets a chair arm. The graded blue reads strongest against a pale floor, since the clear foot takes its colour from below.

Channel Width, Colour Direction and Ordering in Numbers

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. Channel width and depth are set at order, and the top can be cut with two channels crossing or left plain. The grade can be turned over to run from the floor up, taken through a green, an amber or a grey, or dropped for a colourless table. The crossing panels can be set at another angle than a right angle, which changes the plan without changing the parts. Size is cut to order. It travels as one assembled piece in a crate and is a one-person carry, and where several are ordered for one room they are cast in one lot so the grade matches across them. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A channel cut across a blue slab belongs with our acrylic sculptures; two panels halved into a cross lead to our geometric sculptures, and a table to set out from a wall joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
