In this resin sculpture a ribbon rises from a squared black marble base, furls as it climbs and then divides: a ribbed wing breaks away to the left and hangs down beside the body, a short point lifts to the right, and a slender stem climbs on and arches back over itself into a crest of upright clear ribs. Its footprint is slight for so tall a piece, and it reads as an upright line rather than a mass. Fine striations comb the body and follow the furl, and the blue is deep and saturated through the bottom half, clearing towards the turn at the top.
What this piece has to manage is weight against lightness: the body is a deep, dense blue at the foot, and everything above it thins out into wing, point and stem until the crest at the top is almost colourless. The striations do a second job besides the obvious one: running vertically on a form that twists, they show the twist. A smooth ribbon of this shape looks like a smooth ribbon, while a combed one reads as a surface being carried round, and the combing has to follow the furl rather than the axis of the piece for that to happen. The ribs of the wing and the crest work the same way at the edges, catching the light in fine parallel lines where the body catches it in curves.
Standing 115cm on its marble, this is floor work, and its small footprint is the point: it takes a place a wide piece cannot, beside a chair, at a hall return, on the turn of a stair or in a window reveal. It should be lit from one side. Side light runs down the striations and along the ribbed edges and makes the furl legible; front light flattens both and leaves a blue shape. Because it is tall and narrow, it is worth checking what is directly above it before placing it, and worth keeping it off a soft floor, where the marble base can settle slightly and a vertical line reads the error immediately.
Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. Tint and surface are specified at order: this blue clearing upward, a green, an amber, a smoke, or a colourless body. The striations can be coarsened, refined or left off for a smooth ribbon, and the number of furls and where the turn happens are drawn per piece. The marble can be this black or a white or grey one. Sizes run up considerably from this one. It is carried by the heavy furl at its foot, never by the wing or by the turn at the head. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A furl has no straight line anywhere in it, which is organic sculpture; the body is one piece and not an assembly, which is resin sculpture; and it stands where nothing weathers it, in indoor sculpture.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.
Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
