Blue Frosted Open Crescent Resin Sculpture, 60cm, with uneven horns, blue fading to white on the inner curve, resting on its two ends against a plain white background.
Blue Frosted Open Crescent Resin Sculpture - 60cm $2,90200
Description

An open crescent, frosted throughout, blue along the outer edges and paling to a near white down the inner curve. The two horns rise to different heights and are left unjoined, and the material runs fuller toward the foot. Nothing is supplied beneath it, and the two ends of the crescent are what it rests on.

The Inner Curve Has to Stay Unbroken

An open curve has one line that cannot be got wrong, and it is the inside. The outer edge can wander a little and nobody sees it, because the eye reads the silhouette against the wall and forgives a great deal there. The inner curve is read against the empty air it encloses, and the empty air is a perfect shape with no faults in it at all, so any flat spot or wobble on that line is compared directly with something ideal and fails immediately. It is therefore drawn as one continuous arc from horn to horn with no change of radius anywhere along it, and the thickening toward the foot is taken entirely off the outside.

The opening is the subject, so what sits behind it decides the piece: a window, a pale wall at a distance, a lit alcove. Set it against something busy and the enclosed air fills with pattern and the crescent stops being a crescent. At 60cm it belongs on a console or a broad shelf rather than a small table, and it wants to be met square, since from an angle the two horns overlap and the gap closes.

The Opening, the Grade, and Delivery

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The horns are drawn to the same height or further apart, the grade is run from the foot upward instead, and the blue is taken toward green. A polished finish is offered and makes a transparent object of the same outline, which is brighter and considerably less quiet. It is also cast at other spans. It travels in one flat case with both horns sleeved and bridged so nothing bears across the opening, and two people lift it by the foot. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An arc left open is organic sculpture; the frosted body is resin sculpture; and a curve this wide asks for indoor sculpture room.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
