Blue Fluked Tail Resin Sculpture - 120cm
Blue Fluked Tail Resin Sculpture - 120cm $9,31400
Description

The fluke rises out of a ring of thrown water with droplets standing in the air around it, no two of them at one height. Pale blue through the fluke and the ring beneath, with the thrown droplets nearly colourless. The splash ring is the foot and nothing further is supplied.

A Tail and Its Water Drawn as One Body

The difficulty in a splash is that water has no outline of its own, so the ring is drawn as a set of heights rather than as a shape. Every droplet is placed against its neighbours and none is repeated, which is why the whole of it reads as a moment instead of as a pattern. Water and the tail read as one body, and that is the whole argument: there is no line anywhere between the fluke and the ring it rises from. The fluke is polished and the ring beneath left finely ridged, so the water reads as moving and the tail as smooth.

It wants a hall with room to pass on every side of it. Anything plain will do behind it; the droplets need a quiet ground more than the tail does. Light from above catches every droplet at once, which is the position the piece is drawn for. From the doorway it is one rising line, and the droplets do not separate until you are close enough to touch it.

More Droplets, a Wider Ring, and Four People

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. Ask us to change the number of droplets, to widen the ring, or to run a tint through the water. Widen the ring and the droplets are re-spaced around it, because what makes it read as a splash is that no two stand at the same height. Palleted in a single crate, and it goes straight to its position. Four people. The droplets stand proud all round it and they are what will catch. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A fluked tail rising out of its own splash belongs to our organic sculptures; its pale blue water and droplets join our resin sculptures, and a hall with passing room on every side receives it among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
