Description

This rectangular bowl is cast in translucent blue with softly rounded corners, its walls flaring outward from a narrower base to a thick rim that carries the colour most strongly. The interior is dished and much paler than the rim, so looking down into it the blue deepens towards the edge rather than towards the centre.

Walls That Flare From a Narrow Base

The walls are worked in both mould faces so the flare holds an even section from the base right up to the rim, and the rim is left thick where the colour is strongest. Grading the blue from a pale interior to a deep edge is done while the material is live, which is why the change happens over a span and not at a line. The rounded corners are the slow part, because a corner on a flaring wall changes radius as it rises and the section has to stay even through the turn. The interior is dished and polished, and the base is faced flat so the bowl sits square on a shelf or a table.

At 54cm it rests on a console, a sideboard or a wide low table, kept empty so the dished interior can be looked into. The blue needs light through the wall to read, so a position with a window or a lamp behind it does more than one lit from above. Against a pale surface the rim throws its own colour back onto the wood, which is worth seeing before deciding where it goes.

The Flare, the Thick Rim, and Delivery

Allow 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Most of it is the flared wall. Three points are open. The blue can be graded the other way, deep in the well and pale at the rim, and the corners can be worked square instead of rounded. Both the rim length and the wall height are yours to set. Once the order is placed as one, the flare of the walls is carried through it. The thick rim and the narrow base go in boxed clear of every face, and the crate is packed so the bowl bears on its base and not on its rim. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
