Blue Five-Fish Group on Marble - 200cm by Giant Sculptures, five fin-ridged fish in blue and white atop slender black rods on a white marble base, plain light background.
Blue Five-Fish Group on Marble - 200cm $5,87200
Description

Five fighting fish, one large and four of a second size, each carried on a slender dark rod rising out of a long base of white marble. Three of the fish are a pale smoky blue and two are white, and their fins are combed into fine parallel ridges. No two rods are the same length, so the group climbs from one end of the base to the other, and the fish are turned at slightly different angles as if caught mid-shoal.

Five Fish at Five Heights

A group like this is composed rather than modelled, and the composition is settled with the rods temporary and adjustable before anything is fixed. Heights and angles are set by standing back at the distance the piece will be seen from, because a difference of a few centimetres that looks deliberate at arm's length disappears across a room. Each fish is then drilled and seated to the rod it was set to and no other. The base is the other half of the work: a marble slab of that length needs the five holes true and plumb, and marble does not forgive a hole started at the wrong angle, so they are set out from a template made off the finished composition.

At 200cm the base needs a long wall, a console table of matching length, a reception counter or a broad sill; it will not sit on anything square. Stand back and the five heights make one line; from close up, or from either end, that line is lost. Light from above and in front puts a shadow under each fish and separates them from the wall behind; a strong backlight turns the pale blue almost white and the ridges disappear.

The Group, the Base and Getting It Home

Where the piece is standard the build is 3–4 weeks, and where it is bespoke 5–6. The number of fish is settled at order, from three up to seven, and the heights and angles are set to your own wall. Colour runs from this pale blue to an amber, a green, a smoke or a colourless body, and a solid opaque fish is made where the light should not pass. The base is made in this white marble, in a black stone or in steel, at the length you need. It arrives in two crates, the base flat and the fish cased individually with the rods packed apart; the fish are seated on site. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Five fish raised on rods that climb along a base belong with our animal sculptures; fins combed into fine ridges lead to our organic sculptures, and a shoal set on white marble joins our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
