Blue Finned Overlapping Peaks Cast Resin Sculpture, 95cm, showing two ridged mountain-like peaks in translucent blue resin on a white base, set against a plain light background.
Blue Finned Overlapping Peaks Cast Resin Sculpture - 95cm $3,26800
Description

Two ranges of close-set vertical fins overlap in this cast resin sculpture: a high, broad summit stands right of centre at the back, its ridge falling away to the left behind a second range that rises to a summit of its own at the left, well below the first, and runs down to a point in front of it. On the right the high ridge flattens into a shoulder before the end. The fins are pale and translucent, each cut to its own depth, and one seen through another doubles the blue and a second softer set of edges appears behind the first. It stands on a slab of white marble that runs out past the fins at either side.

A High Peak Behind a Low One

An asymmetric landform has to look chosen, and that is harder than it sounds. Here the answer is depth: the high summit stands at the back, and the second range stands in front and runs down across its foot, so the eye reads one behind the other rather than one beside the other. Because the fins are translucent, the front range never hides the back one; where they overlap the blue doubles and the high ridge shows through as a second, softer line. On the right the high ridge does not simply fall away but flattens into a shoulder before the end, which gives the long side a pause and keeps the whole from reading as a slope that has slumped.

Shallow from front to back and long on its slab, it wants a sideboard, a broad console or a long cabinet top. It has a proper front, the second range standing before the high one, and a proper handedness: the high summit sits right of centre, so it suits the right-hand end of a long surface, with the front range leading the eye in from the left. A plain field behind it matters, since the fins are translucent. Edge-lighting from behind separates them into layers and shows the high ridge through the front range, which a frontal light merges into one pale slope.

Fin Depths, the Slab and Lifting It

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The landform, the fin spacing and the depths are drawn per piece, so a version handed the other way, a range with several summits, or one whose fins stand wide apart are all available. The tint is decided with the order: no tint at all, which leaves nothing but edges and overlaps, or a green, or a grey that reads as slate. It is picked up from beneath its foot, never by a fin. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two finned ranges, one standing before the other, place this piece among our abstract sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
