Blue Cut Sphere on Black Marble Resin Sculpture - 46cm, curling scoops of deep to ice-blue resin on a black marble base, shown against a plain white background.
Blue Cut Sphere on Black Marble Resin Sculpture - 46cm $2,02500
Description

At tabletop size, this ball of blue resin is cut into two scoops that curl round each other and part along one thin dividing wall. The blue is richest at the outer surface and clears toward a soft ice blue in each hollow, where the resin runs thinnest. Its slim blue stem is set into a squared black marble block, which is supplied.

A Clear Blue Ball Wrapped Round Itself

At tabletop scale the dividing wall decides the design, since it carries the whole form and shows from every angle. The blue is mixed to stay clear even where that wall is thickest, so it reads as a pane of colour rather than a solid mass. Each scoop is polished on both faces, so light falling into one hollow passes through the wall and brightens the other, and the outside is brought to the same gloss so that the ball shows no seam or tool mark anywhere on its surface.

Standing 46cm overall, it is right for a deep windowsill, a writing desk or a side table, where it is seen from close by. Blue keeps its clarity best in daylight, and a north-facing room shows it at its coolest. Set it against white or grey and the outline of the ball is crisp; against timber the blue looks richer and darker.

The Blue, the Block and a Single Case

Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. Cobalt or aqua versions are offered, as are deeper hollows for a more open ball, and the stone beneath can be swapped for a paler one or cut to a different proportion to suit the table or shelf it will stand on, with the stem lengthened to match. One case holds the ball and, wrapped apart, its block, and a single person can carry the ball comfortably in both hands. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A ball wrapped round itself in two scoops belongs with our organic sculptures; clear mid blue resin leads to our resin sculptures, and a piece sized for a desk joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
