Blue Craggy Rock Resin Sculpture - 43cm with a terraced, granular surface shifting from pale aqua to deep blue, shown on a plain white background.
Blue Craggy Rock Resin Sculpture - 43cm $2,36200
Description

This cast resin sculpture is a rock form, long and low like a ridge seen from the side. It is worked with a rough granular surface and a stepped, terraced profile rather than a smooth one. Colour runs vertically: a pale aqua holds the crown and the upper ledges, and it deepens steadily to a strong saturated blue along the base.

Terraced Ledges Under a Rough Granular Skin

The surface is the first thing and it is not polished anywhere. Every face is broken into a fine granular texture, close to the fracture on a split block of ice, and it holds the light in a dull scatter instead of a highlight, which is what stops a piece of clear blue material reading as glass. Over that the form is terraced: a broad low ledge on one side, a step up to a plateau, and a further rise to the highest point, so the profile is a series of stages rather than a single dome. The highest point is set well off centre, which keeps the ridge from settling into symmetry. Colour is carried in the material, so the blue deepens where the mass is heaviest and the crown ledges stay pale.

It is a surface piece. At 43cm it suits a coffee table, a console, a sideboard, a wide shelf or a hall table, and its weight means nothing needs to go under it. Being broad and low it reads best from above and from a seated height, so a coffee table is the natural home rather than a high shelf. A dark or a mid ground under it deepens the blue considerably, and a white surface bleaches the crown. Side light picks up the granular skin; a downlight puts a flat patch on the top and loses it. Indoor use only.

Aqua to Blue, the Granular Skin, and Delivery

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. On the colour: this aqua to blue is standard, and a green to jade, an amber to brown, and a colourless version with no gradient are all made; the direction can also be reversed so the deepest tone sits at the crown. On the surface: the granular skin is standard, and a polished version is made, which turns the object into something much brighter and considerably less like stone. No base is supplied, since a flat underside is cast in. It is boxed by itself, the crown and ledges wrapped against knocks, and is easily carried by one person. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Terraced ledges under a granular skin belong with our abstract sculptures; an aqua outcrop for a coffee table joins our indoor sculptures, and a rock drawn from nature sits among our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
