Blue Contour Island Timber & Resin Round Table - 85cm
Blue Contour Island Timber & Resin Round Table - 85cm $7,89300
Description

A round table whose level top is clear blue resin over a landscape of stepped boards. Honey-coloured terraces step down from the rim on one side into a deep trench through the middle, where the blue darkens almost to grey, and a single small pale island rises from the shallows to one side, ringed by steps of its own. Below the top the drum is pale, and its underside is cut away into uneven, stepped contours.

Contour Steps Under a Level Blue Surface

The top is dead flat and the ground beneath it is anything but. Each terrace is the edge of one board, so the slopes read as contour lines, packed close where the ground drops steeply into the trench and spaced wide where it levels out towards the rim. The blue is bright and pale over the shallow steps and deepens as they fall away, until the floor of the trench reads as dark water a long way down. The island is a pale oval standing alone in open blue, with tight rings around it. At one point the resin breaks out through the side of the drum, so the stepped edges can be read in section as well as from above.

As a coffee table it takes the centre of a sofa group, low enough that everyone around it looks straight down onto the landscape in its top. It seats nothing and carries everything: the surface is flat, level and generous. The drum curves in at its foot, which suits a close arrangement of chairs. Overhead light shows the top at its best and makes the steps read through the blue; low side light picks out the stepped underside instead. Indoors only.

How Far the Island Rises, and How Deep the Blue Runs

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The timber sets the pace. Three questions decide the object. How high the island stands: breaking the surface as here reads as land, stopping short of it reads as a shoal seen through water, and going well above it reads as a rock. The step spacing, which is what gives the contour lines their rhythm, from these close rings to a few broad terraces. And the blue, which can be this deep marine, a green lagoon, or a grey that reads as slate rather than water. Diameter and height are made to order. One crate on a pallet, and two people to lift a disc of this weight. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Terraced ground falling into a deep blue trench makes this round table a fit for our art furniture, our organic sculptures for its contours, and our resin sculptures for the clear blue.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
