Blue Closing Curve Resin Sculpture - 22cm, a glossy blue open-circle form on a clear stem and black disc base, shown against a plain white background.
Blue Closing Curve Resin Sculpture - 22cm $1,55200
Description

A polished blue curve, thick in section and closing almost into a circle without ever quite meeting. The material is deepest where the section is at its fullest and lightens toward both of its ends. It is raised on a short clear stem set into a black disc, and the disc and stem come with it.

Mass Is the Point, Not the Outline

A curve this size could have been drawn thin and elegant and would have been a worse object. Thin, a closing arc reads as a line and the eye follows it round to the gap and stops; there is nothing to come back for. Given real section it stops being a line and becomes a mass with a hole taken out of it, and a transparent mass has an inside: the blue deepens through the thick of the curve and thins at the ends, so the colour maps the section and the object rewards turning it over. That is also why it is polished rather than frosted. Frosting would stop the light at the surface and put the thin drawing back.

It is a hand object. Put it where someone can pick it up - a desk, a low table beside a chair, a shelf at arm's height - and it will get picked up. On a high shelf it is a blue shape and nothing more. It needs light close by and from one side, since the colour reads deepest through the thick of the curve and thins to almost nothing at the two ends. At 22cm it occupies almost no surface on a desk, and its black disc keeps it steady.

The Section, the Gap, and Delivery

Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. The gap is drawn wider or closed entirely into a ring, the section is cast fuller, and the blue is taken toward green or lifted paler. A frosted version is offered and is a completely different object for the reason above. Other sizes are built to order, and the gap can be drawn narrower on them because the mass carries it. It is sent in one padded box, the curve in a shaped bed and the disc packed beside it, and it lifts in one hand. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A curve closing on itself is organic sculpture; the blue mass is resin sculpture; and something meant to be handled is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
