Blue Closed Ring Wave Cast Resin Sculpture, 85cm, shaped as a curling wave closing into a ring with splashing crest, deep blue base fading to pale top, on a plain white background.
Blue Closed Ring Wave Cast Resin Sculpture - 85cm $3,38400
Description

Blue water carried round until it closes on itself, its crest breaking over the top of the ring and not at one side. The circle is not a true one: it is fuller on one side than the other, and the water coming down the far side runs back into the foot it rose from. The blue is deep around the foot and up both sides and pale across the top, which is the opposite of how the material usually falls and is what keeps the crest from looking heavy.

The Heaviest Part Is the Furthest From the Foot

This piece carries its mass high rather than low. The crest is at the top of a closed circle, which means the heaviest part of the object sits as far from the foot as it can get, with a ring of material between the two that is thinner than either. A ring under that kind of load wants to go oval, and an oval that was meant to be a circle is one of the few faults in this material that cannot be corrected afterwards. So the material is put where the bending is, massed at the two sides and eased at the top and the bottom, which is also why the colour runs the way it does.

A closed circle frames whatever stands beyond it, so it does more with depth in front of it than with a wall at its back. Set against plaster the hole simply reads as a lighter patch of the same wall; set on a surface in the middle of a room, or in a window, it frames a view and changes as anyone walks past it. Its 85cm suits a low console or a wide sideboard with clear air above it rather than a shelf, where the break of the crest is met at about eye height. Given the choice, put it where people approach from the side.

Opening the Circle, and Standing It Up

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. The circle closes on itself and the crest sits at the top of the closure, so the heaviest part of the piece is the part furthest from the foot. The blue can be taken to a green, and the circle can be drawn open at the top. Tint depth is settled with the order, and the colour can run evenly through the whole ring instead of deepening towards the foot. It travels upright in a crate built to the outside of the ring with the crest faced separately, and it is lifted out by the foot and set down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A closed ring of blue water breaking into spray at its crown points to our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
