Blue Breaking Wave Resin Sculpture - 54cm
Blue Breaking Wave Resin Sculpture - 54cm $1,89000
Description

A wave rising and breaking over on itself, smooth through the body and crystalline where the crest gives way. Blue through the body with amber under the crest and white foam worked at the break. The wave arrives with a thin black marble block under it. A second, shallower burst of foam runs out along the foot.

Where the Body Becomes Foam

At this size the same wave has no counterweight problem at all, so the whole of the drawing goes into the break and the foam rather than into the reach. Nothing here has to be balanced against a reach, so the detail goes where the water changes state and nowhere else. Working the foam as crystal in a clear body means the material changes from smooth to broken at the break itself, so the change of state is a change of surface and not of colour. Polished across the body and left crystalline through the foam, and that change of surface happens only at the break.

It suits a desk or a mantel, turned so the break comes toward the room. A pale ground at its back, so the white foam has something to read against. Light from behind fills the blue and sets the foam alight; light from in front flattens both. The break reads from across a room and the crystal in the foam is entirely a near fact.

Working the Foam Further, and One Box

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The foam can be worked further along the crest, the blue can be exchanged, and the stone can be had at another plan. Cut the foam further along the crest and the break is redrawn to carry it, since foam with no break behind it reads as damage. Wave and stone are packed in one box and come out ready to set down. One person lifting from beneath the stone, which is the only sensible grip. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A wave curling over into crystal foam belongs to our organic sculptures; the blue with amber held under the crest joins our resin sculptures, and a room where the break faces the viewer holds it among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
