Blue & White Speckled Open Curl Resin Sculpture (56cm) on a marble base, curling form in ink blue and white speckled resin, shown against a plain white background.
Blue & White Speckled Open Curl Resin Sculpture - 56cm $2,42100
Description

A speckled curl of ink blue and clear resin. The curl opens out from a narrow foot and turns back on itself at the top, leaving a broad gap. Ink blue holds at the outer edge and thins inward across the wall, while a field of white flecks runs the other way and is heaviest where the blue is faintest. A marble block is included.

Two Changes That Cross

Putting two changes across a single wall is the only way to give a curl of this section anything to be read by, because the form itself is one continuous surface with no incident on it. The blue runs from the rim inward and the flecking runs from the middle outward, so they cross rather than reinforce, and every part of the wall differs from every other part in at least one of the two. Had they been set the same way round the piece would have a bright end and a dark end and nothing in between. The block underneath is kept to a simple rectangle for the same reason, so nothing below the casting competes with the two changes across its wall.

A sideboard or a deep, sturdy shelf will take it, and the opening should be turned toward the room. The flecking only separates from the blue when something rakes across the wall, so a source set off to one side beats an overhead. A dark surface behind it holds the pale middle, which disappears against a white one. The flecking is heaviest where the wall is palest, so the two changes cross rather than agree and the curl never settles into one flat area.

The Flecking, the Blue, and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The flecking is spread over the whole wall, the ink blue is graded from the middle, and the block is cut from another stone on request. The curl is cast at other spans, and the flecking is spread to the new wall rather than carried over. The curl can be tinted in another colour as well, with the white flecking carried into it. Where the speckle is not wanted the wall is cast plain, which makes a much simpler and rather colder object. It travels in one crate with the rim boxed out and the block packed beside it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A curl left open, its rim inked deep blue and its pale middle flecked white, leads on to our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
