Blue & White Layered Windblown Figure Sculpture (109cm) in resin on a black marble base, side view against a plain light grey background.
Blue & White Layered Windblown Figure Sculpture - 109cm $3,23900
Description

A windblown figure in blue and white cast resin, the swept form carried well above table height, the flare opening wide at the top, on a block of dark stone. Blue lies over white rather than mixing into it, so the two stay separable everywhere on the body. Seen from the side, the blue edges draw the outline and the white fills it. The black marble comes with the figure.

Two Colours That Will Not Mix

At this height the design becomes a room object rather than a table one, and keeping two colours in visible layers is what stops it reading as bulk. Keeping two colours apart in one body is harder than blending them and the difference is visible from across a room: a blended body reads as one pale tone, and this one reads as a blue laid over a white with both still doing their own work. Two colours that refuse to blend leave the body with a blue layer over a white one, and at this height that layering is what carries across a room. A full gloss. Anything less and the white would take a cast from the blue lying over it.

It wants a console or a floor-standing plinth with room around it. Stand it against a mid-tone or dark ground. White on white takes half the piece away. Even light suits it; a hard source puts a highlight on the white and flattens the blue over it. The two layers read from across a room, which is unusual for a body this pale.

Mixing the Layers, and Getting It In

A standard piece takes 3–4 weeks to make, and a bespoke commission 5–6. The proportion of white can be raised, the layering spread into a graduation, and the design is made at other heights. Spread the two into one another and the layering goes, which is the single thing separating this from every other version. How much of the body is given to each colour is open, and raising the white raises the apparent weight of the piece rather than lightening it, because white is the opaque half of the pair and the blue is the half you see through. One crate. Two people set it down at this height. Two people, both at the stone, keeping the flare clear. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Castings that layer one colour over another run through our resin sculptures, with more swept, upright forms for a room in our indoor sculptures and our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
