Blue & Rust Granulated Curl Acrylic Bar Sculpture - 90cm
Blue & Rust Granulated Curl Acrylic Bar Sculpture - 90cm $3,64400
Description

A thick curl of granulated resin, wound almost all the way round, standing upright on a clear acrylic bar, both of its ends drawn off to a point. Blue runs along the bottom of the sweep from one end and gives way to rust round the outer turn, the rust fading back to blue across the top, while both pointed ends clear to a milky white. The clear acrylic bar is supplied and runs past the curl at both ends.

A Colour Run Carried on Texture

A coarse surface on a curl this thick becomes the thing that carries its colour round the turn. The blue and the rust meet on the grain rather than on a smooth face, so where one turns into the other the change is broken into thousands of small facets and reads as a blend rather than a line. The clear bar keeps the whole curl up off the surface and in the light, so the colour can be followed from the white of one point, through blue and rust, to the white of the other. The grain runs over every face of the curl, so it catches the light whichever way the piece is turned.

The bar wants a console it can lie along, with the length kept clear. A plain wall the length of the bar suits it, with nothing standing on the surface beside it. Light falling across the curl picks out the change of colour, blue along the bottom of the sweep and rust round the outer turn. The colour run is what reads from a distance, and the granulated surface is a close fact.

Reversing the Run, and Getting It In

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The colours are swapped, so that the rust runs along the bottom of the sweep and the blue round the turn, the grain is left off, and the acrylic bar is made at other lengths. Change the bar and the curl is made in proportion to it. The bar ships full length in its own crate and is carried level along its length, and the curl is lifted from beneath its thick sweep, never by either point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A granulated curl turning from blue to rust and clearing at both points stands among our acrylic sculptures, our organic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
