The shell turns back on itself and the whole of the outer face is broken into ridges that run with the curl. Teal through the whole shell, deepest where it curls back on itself and palest along the broken edge. Beneath it is a deep black block, supplied with the shell, which meets it at its narrowest point.
The ridges all run with the curl rather than across it, so the eye is carried round the turn instead of counting bands on the way. Where the shell laps over itself the ridges of the two faces are drawn to pass rather than to meet, and that is what keeps the overlap readable at all. A shell that curls back on itself hides most of its own inside, and a tinted body is what makes the hidden part legible: the colour deepens with every thickness the eye has to look through. Polished over the outer face with the broken edge left as cast.
It needs a console with room to be passed on both sides. It wants to be met at about waist height. A pale ground behind it, because the teal is darkest exactly along the outline. Side light finds the ridges; straight-on light returns one flat sheet of colour. The curl is what carries; the ridges belong to the near view.
Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. On request the curl is opened further, the teal is exchanged, or the block is cut to another plan. Open the curl and the shell is drawn deeper behind it, because the weight moves forward as it opens. How far the curl is opened is settled before casting. One crate on a pallet, and the shell travels on its side. Three people for the lift, and the broken edge is what will catch. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A teal shell curling back over its own opening leads to our organic sculptures; the ridged casting joins our resin sculptures, and it wants passing room on both sides among our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
